Offered in select MU-X models for 4x4 and 4x2 drivetrain configurations, the Isuzu RZ4E-TC 1.9L turbo-diesel engine generates 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque, delivering exceptional fuel efficiency and refined operation. The 1.9L MU-X is a versatile and cost-effective solution for small business owners, fleet and tradies.
Let the intuitive 6-speed automatic MU-X do all the smooth shifting for you. Grade Logic technology makes sure you are in the correct gear when ascending and descending tough terrain. If you do wish to take control, select Rev-tronic mode for sequential shifting.
The advanced 3.0 litre turbo-diesel engine produces 140kW and an avalanche of torque on demand, with 450Nm available from just 1,600 through to 2,600rpm. This provides exceptional take-off and acceleration with a broad, flat torque band aiding overall drive-ability - also perfect for when carrying a load, or towing up to 3.5T+.

Engineered for Australian conditions, every 4x4 MU-X features ‘Terrain Command’ as standard, allowing you to switch between 2WD-high and 4WD-high modes at speeds of up to 100km/h. When the going gets tough, selecting 4WD-low will provide increased traction and complete control.
To get you out of the toughest spots, 4x4 MU-X models come standard with a rear differential lock. If you're on a slippery, uneven surface with the rear wheels spinning, the rear differential lock assists the low-ratio 4WD-low mode to give you the extra traction and control needed to keep moving.
Engineered for Australian conditions, every 4x4 MU-X features Rough Terrain Mode as standard. Rough Terrain Mode provides a new lease on traction as an off-road biased electronic driver aid that maximises drivability in technical, slippery and rough conditions.

Take on any challenge with Hill Start Assist which prevents vehicle roll-back when starting on steep gradients (above 5.7 degrees). Hill Descent Control gives you the confidence to tackle any downhill terrain by ensuring maximum traction.

The system constantly monitors and reports individual tyre pressures and temperatures. When refilling your tyres, the vehicle will conveniently alert you once the correct pressure has been reached. (Standard on LS-U, LS-T & X-TERRAIN models)
The MU-X 4x4 models have sturdy steel underbody protection, including a steel sump and transfer case guard, for extra protection in punishing off-road conditions.
Diesel engines are 20-30% more efficient than regular petrol engines. The MU-X is so fuel efficient because our engineers have decades of experience in commercial transport, where every litre counts.
Isuzu’s super-high pressure common rail technology ensures you burn minimal fuel,
while enjoying maximum performance from precise control over injection timing and the amount of
fuel delivered.
The MU-X Variable Geometry System (VGS) constantly adjusts to achieve optimum air compression from low revs, which ensures minimal fuel consumption with maximum torque across the rev-range.
When the MU-X was designed, it underwent extensive testing to ensure its shape provided outstanding aerodynamics resulting in a lower drag co-efficient (Cd). The sleek final result not only improves fuel efficiency, the shape reduces cabin noise for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
The MU-X has been designed with over 100 years of Isuzu engineering expertise. Here are just a few clever design features that lie beneath the skin.
Replacing a timing belt can be an expensive job. But there's no need in the MU-X as it doesn't have one. Instead, a heavy-duty steel timing chain is used and is designed to last the life of the engine. The double scissors design in the 3.0L engine also offers increased durability and reduced noise.
This unique Isuzu engine design eliminates backlash on deceleration, reducing engine wear.
A double scissor idler gear design in the 3.0L engine results in reduced engine and gear noise for quieter and smoother operation.
Isuzu diesel engines are built to withstand higher temperatures and pressures than other engines. The powerful and efficient 3.0L 4JJ3-TCX engine in the MU-X is tough by nature, hard wearing and delivers legendary Isuzu reliability.
